Project Description:

The Town of Parachute partnered with CPS and another sub-contractor to complete an update to the Town’s Comprehensive Plan which was last updated in 2016. Since that time, the development landscape has changed and many of the strategies and recommendations of he 2016 plan had been addressed or the Town’s vision shifted. The 2022 update to the communities Comprehensive Plan was focused on two things: 1) adjust the Town’s economic development strategy, and 2) evaluate and recommend growth and land use strategies to support those strategies. The project kicked off with an internal strategic planning session where members of staff and the consultant team discussed high-level and technical and specific things that were desired to be addressed. After developing some ideas, concepts, and maps, the project team brought those ideas to the public during the Grand Valley Days festivities. Wonderful comments, feedback, and input were received by the broad community members in attendance. The outcome of the plan are the four Key Themes. These Key Themes were then expanded into a matrix of objectives. Furthermore, an Economic and Resiliency blurb was drafted for each chapter clearly articulating how each chapter could further guide and enhance the foundational goals of the town to become more economically viable and resilient.
