Project Description:

The Town of Mount Crested Butte found themselves in a predicament when within a matter of a few weeks, their town manager, town attorney, and deputy community development director putting in their notice to vacate their positions. With multiple complex development review applications, the Town sought to partner with a firm with the skills, knowledge, and experience to take over three significant in-process applications. CPS’s senior planners were honored to be awarded the project and excited to be able to support the community by providing the bridge in service between staff turnover.

After a deliberate onboarding process where clear communication protocols, expectations, and introductions to each of the projects, project teams, and town staff were articulated, CPS took the roll of the planner and facilitated staff reports and presentations as well as meetings and communications between town staff, referral agencies, and the applicant. While the Town was able to fill in a number of the vacancies, the Town desired to have CPS continue to work on the three projects through all application and review processes.
